Artist Biography

Lowery is an artist whose passion for life is revealed through her paintings of the landscape of the Southwest and her drawings and painting of animals.

After raising a family, she returned to college and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Communication from The American College of Art in Atlanta, Georgia. She began her career working with a company in Florida designing signage for wildlife refuges and museums all over North America. She’s owned a gallery/gift shop, published several Limited Edition prints and paints en plein air and also in her studio in Abiquiu, NM.

After studying with several established, professional artists, including Janet Walsh-AWS, William Herring-KA, PSA, and Doug Dawson-PSA, she decided to take the plunge and dedicate all her energy to painting. She’s also studied under Doug Higgins, OPA and Carole Whitmore

Lowery’s move to New Mexico from the East was the point of no turning back. She fell in love with the Southwest; it’s people, flowers and magnificent sunsets. She’s found it a smorgasbord of painting subjects

Lowery has participated in many juried shows, including THE WOMEN ARTISTS OF THE WEST’S INTERNATIONAL SHOWS (three times) and won Second Place in the Pastel category in their 2003 Show. Also, her work was accepted in the prestigious FLORIDA WATERCOLOR SOCIETY’S NATIONAL SHOW. She has paintings in private collections throughout the United States and Canada.

She was recently juried in as an ASSOCIATE MEMBER of the WOMEN ARTISTS OF THE WEST and also NOMADAS DEL ARTE. She’s also a member of PLEIN AIR PAINTERS OF NEW MEXICO.
